Ho inizato a giocare con i colori, seriamente, guardando al lavoro di Maestri come Mintoy, Olga Rozanova, James Ensor, El Greco, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Jacopo Robusti detto Il Tintoretto, Rembrandt van Rijn, William Turner, Otto Dix, Ernst L. Kirchner, Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat e in generale alla pittura neo espressionista, all’arte povera, e alla tradizione cinese (tra gli altri Gu Kaizhi, Huang Gong Wang, Guo Xi, Wu Guan Zhong, Lin Feng Mian) giapponese (tra molti Shibata Zeshin, Tawaraya Sotatsu, Utagawa Toyohiro, Hasegawa Tohaku) e coreana (tra cui Kin Hong-do Danwon,Yun Du-Seo, Whanki Kim, K. Na Hye Sok ). L’arte concettuale e minimalista non mi ha mai scaldato troppo, mentre Optic e Pop Art, si. Devo ammettere che ho imparato poco.
Allora spero che non vi sorprendi la mia tendenza all’espressività individuale, colori aggressivi e immagini che riflettono quasi sempre la mia autobiografia, nel senso ampio del termine, spesso rifletto e ridefinisco quello che accade agli altri attorno a me, faccio miei i loro sentimenti, le loro emozioni e reazioni e mi affogo volentieri nel mare magnum di tematiche come identità, storia e cultura popolare, alienazione sociale.

I started seriously playing with colors by looking at the work of masters like Mintoy, Olga Rozanova, Roger Van Der Weyden, James Ensor, El Greco, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Jacopo Robusti, known as Tintoretto, Rembrandt van Rijn, William Turner, Otto Dix, Ernst L. Kirchner, Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and generally at Neo-Expressionist painting, Arte Povera, and the Chinese (among others Gu Kaizhi, Huang Gong Wang, Guo Xi, Wu Guan Zhong, Lin Feng Mian), Japanese (among others Shibata Zeshin, Tawaraya Sotatsu, Utagawa Toyohiro, Hasegawa Tohaku) and Korean (among others Kin Hong-do Danwon, Yun Du-Seo, Whanki Kim, K. Na Hye Sok) traditions. Conceptual and minimalist art never really appealed to me, while Op Art and Pop Art did. I must admit I learned very little.
So I hope you won’t be surprised by my tendency towards individual expression, aggressive colors, and images that almost always reflect my autobiography, in the broadest sense of the term. I often reflect on and redefine what happens to others around me, I make their feelings, emotions, and reactions my own, and I gladly immerse myself in the vast sea of themes such as identity, history and popular culture, and social alienation.

L’inizio è quasi primordiale, verso i miei cinque o sei anni, ma quelli sono vagiti stroncati in culla. Qui trovi una selezione di lavori che rivelano l’inizio “vero”, e tardo, di quello che, si spera, diverrà il mio stile, magari anche unico.
The beginning is almost primordial, around the age of five or six, but those were mere whimpers stifled in the cradle. Here you’ll find a selection of works that reveal the “true,” albeit late, beginning of what, hopefully, will become my style, perhaps even a unique one.
